While woodworking and carpentry are generally categorized as "work" (hence the name woodwork), they are the perfect soultion for anybody looking for a new hobby.
Why? Here are the top 3 reasons:
1. It's not too expensive
While some hobby require spending a lot of money, carpentry isn't too expensive. Depending on which projects you are planning to take on, you can start by buying only a few cheap tools, or none at all. When you have acquired the range of tools you usually need, there are no bigger expenses. Materials are cheap and easy to find, plus, you can earn back some of that money by selling the goods you made, or save money by building the things you need by yourself instead of buying them.
2. It's a perfect way to spend time
Woodworking takes time, yes, so if you are generally a busy person, it might not be what you want. But only a couple of hours per week can get you a good start at the field, plus it's an excellent way to get your mind off your everyday problems. Another good thing about carpentry: the results are real, permanent objects, so if you have completed something, you'll get the good feeling of accomplishment. (And you can show off your accomplishments.)
3. Because of the atmosphere
Sometimes, getting dirty is just what you might need. The smell of sawdust, the noise from the tools and the general atmosphere in your garage/workshop when woodworking is something absolutely unique, and if you have that special something in you, you will certainly love it.
